Background
Based within Student Inclusion and Engagement, the Widening Participation Outreach Team supports young people in making realistic, well-informed decisions about their future, challenging preconceptions, and helping them to develop the skills, knowledge and grades required to meet their aspirations.
Responsibilities
The post holder will plan, deliver, monitor and evaluate a range of activities for students from year 9-13 aimed at breaking down barriers to higher education. The post will have responsibility for City’s Taster Weeks, external partnerships and a range of other widening participation activities.
Person Specification
An understanding and up-to-date knowledge of the widening participation agenda and barriers to entering HE is essential. Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding issues is key to the role. Experience of working with young people in a school or youth work setting is required. The post holder will have experience in planning and delivering projects with excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills as well as the ability to manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
