Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, solutions-focused Electrical/Mechanical Engineer to join our well-established client in Greater Manchester. This role is pivotal in supporting the manufacturing operations, where you will utilise your expertise in switchgear and associated equipment.
Your Role
As an Electrical/Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for:
1. Technical Interpretation: Examining technical drawings, specifications, and wiring diagrams to determine the method and sequence of operations.
2. Wiring and Assembly: Carrying out wiring and switchboard assembly, operating hand tools, electric tools, and associated equipment within the workshop.
3. Health & Safety: Ensuring strict adherence to health and safety compliance.
4. Component Assembly: Selecting, cutting, and laying wires, connecting them to sockets, plugs, or terminals through crimping, soldering, brazing, or bolting.
5. Sub-Assembly Work: Assembling parts and sub-assemblies using hand tools and methods such as brazing, riveting, or welding.
6. Teamwork and Independence: Working accurately and efficiently, both as part of a team and independently.
7. Professional Standards: Maintaining high professional standards, cleanliness, and following stringent health and safety procedures.

Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role or a degree in an engineering-related subject.
- Strong background in Electrical Engineering with in-depth knowledge of switchgear maintenance and installation.
- Familiarity with LV and HV electrical switchgear systems, including circuit breakers and electrical protection schemes.
- Experience with retrofitting LV and HV switchgear is advantageous.
- Ability to advise on and specify new equipment to replace older products.
- Experience in developing maintenance and service programme proposals.
- Knowledge of FAT and SAT processes related to switchgear and associated equipment.
- Experience in contract negotiation with clients and suppliers is beneficial.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience managing internal and external relationships.
- Ability to read and interpret technical CAD drawings.
- Management capabilities and experience in developing junior project engineers.
- Full UK Driving License required.
