Specialist Physiotherapist (Paediatrics)

We have an opportunity for a part-time (21.4 hours per week) Band 6 Specialist Physiotherapist in our Children's Physiotherapy Team. You will join our well-established service which supports children aged 0-19 years, providing care across both Sunderland and South Tyneside areas. You will have excellent support and be part of a wider Children's Integrated Therapy Service team. This role offers the opportunity to develop your clinical and leadership skills.
Main duties of the job
You will be based within Palmer Community Hospital, Jarrow, as part of our Children's Physiotherapy team. You will be responsible for a wide and varied caseload, with knowledge and experience in Paediatrics, including musculoskeletal conditions and complex presentations. You will also have knowledge of paediatric assessment tools and the Bobath approach, and experience with Education Health and Care Plans (Children and Families Act 2014). You will participate in the clinical supervision, training, and education of all staff, including students, and will be required to meet the travel requirements of this post.
Job responsibilities
To work as a highly specialist physiotherapist using advanced clinical reasoning skills to provide physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and advice to a varied caseload of clients, including those with musculoskeletal and complex neurological conditions. Practise will incorporate collaborative working with and guiding junior physiotherapy staff.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience within Paediatric physiotherapy.
* Awareness of relevant standardised formal and informal assessments and therapy approaches.
* Experience of supervising qualified Physiotherapy staff, assistants, and students.
* Experience in designing and delivering training and education programmes.
* Some experience of policy/practice development in specialist area.
Qualifications
* Evidence of extensive CPD and up-to-date knowledge within Paediatrics.
* Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists.
* Knowledge of specialist assessment tools relevant to Paediatric Physiotherapy.
* Knowledge of national and local policies relevant to health, social services, and education.

* Good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Proven organisational and planning skills.
