Exciting Opportunity for Band 6 Midwives at NHS Borders
An exciting opportunity has arisen for band 6 midwives to work in NHS Borders, located in the beautiful Scottish Borders. The position is rotational within the Hawick community team.
At NHS Borders, we prioritize women at the center of our maternity services, aiming to provide the best care for women and their families. We pride ourselves on high standards of care, ensuring safety and quality through strong leadership and teamwork.
Our maternity services are evolving to meet the Best Start recommendations, offering continuity of care through caseload midwifery teams who care for women at home and in our consultant-led units. You will be part of these teams, working collaboratively to promote evidence-based, women-centered care.
This is an excellent opportunity to join our friendly, supportive multidisciplinary team within NHS Borders. Our midwifery services are delivered alongside the Borders General Hospital near Melrose, which provides antenatal/postnatal wards, a labour suite, consultant clinics, and an early pregnancy unit. Community support is provided at home and in GP surgeries across the Borders, including Peebles, Hawick, Jedburgh, Galashiels, Kelso, Duns, and Eyemouth.
We seek an innovative, highly motivated, flexible, and enthusiastic midwife with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, committed to providing high-quality, person-centered care within community settings. A passion for continuity of care and a desire to develop midwifery expertise are essential.
You should be able to work flexibly and effectively within a busy team, caring for women with diverse health and social care needs, in partnership with other health and social agencies.
This permanent part-time role offers an exciting opportunity for experienced midwives eager to develop skills and practice midwife-led care. The role requires a commitment to day shifts and on-call duties, both day and night, as needed.
The Scottish Borders offers diverse landscapes—from cliffs and beaches to rivers and hills—and excellent transport links, including train stations in Tweedbank and soon in Reston. The area provides ample opportunities for accommodation and leisure, supporting a healthy work-life balance.
