About the Role
Do you have experience of working in ICT and Information Security? Are you familiar with terms like Public Services Network (PSN), ISO27001, vulnerabilities, and risk?
Join the Information Security team as an Information Security Officer. You will support all departments across the council, providing high-quality information security and compliance support within the ICT & Digital department. Your role will involve ensuring customer requests, compliance requirements, and issues are addressed swiftly to deliver robust, reliable, and cost-effective security solutions, meeting all Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Responsibilities and Requirements
1. Support and administer information security solutions to meet standards such as the Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF), PSN code of connection (PSN CoCo), ISO27001, PCI DSS, and the Data Security & Protection Toolkit (DSPT).
2. Maintain knowledge of cyber threats, vulnerability management, risk assessment, client/server networks, and security standards.
3. Apply a logical approach to problem solving.
4. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in ICT or information governance services within a complex environment.

Motivated, disciplined, with proactive approach, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ownership capabilities. The role suits a candidate who can prioritize workloads and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Additional Information
A career graded position starting at grade 9 may be considered, with opportunities for study and promotion upon gaining relevant experience.

Work Environment
Flexible, with hybrid working options. Attendance at County Hall in Newport is required at least one day per week, with remote work options available.
