Here at Human Appeal, we have an exciting opportunity for the CHS Coordinator position. Human Appeal is a faith-based charity that aims to abolish poverty by providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development programmes and championing advocacy for our beneficiaries worldwide. Human Appeal has eight Country Field Offices across the globe.
Main Job Purpose
As a CHS Coordinator, you will play an integral role to ensure Human Appeal (HA) embodies the Nine Commitments of CHS. This will require working directly with field offices’ and departmental Champions to embed it across internal and external work streams. Reporting to the Quality and MEAL Principal Advisor, the role will monitor and drive departmental CHS improvement plans, develop and deliver training workshops, participate in CHS meetings and lead the internal and external liaison on CHS. The coordinator will play a pivotal role in preparing the organisation for independent verification and certification and transitioning current activities to the updated CHS.
We are ideally looking to appoint somebody immediately to this role and the recruitment is to run on a rolling basis; it will be closed once a suitable candidate is appointed
Note: We will only consider candidates who hold the nationality of a country where HA has a presence.
Key duties and responsibilities:
1. HA UK, global teams and partners embed and implement CHS principles across operations, policies and procedures
2. HA and its partners have strengthened their accountability and quality mechanisms within communities and across programme activities
3. 11 Organisational Responsibilities and Key Actions improvement plans are aligned to the updated CHS
4. Training workshops increase understanding of the updated CHS amongst HA UK, global teams and partners
5. CHS commitment indicators on PSEA are embedded within the safeguarding framework HA and its partners are primed for independent verification and certification by HQAI
Job Requirements
6. Ideally degree-educated with a Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Social Sciences or a related field
7. Minimum of three years in humanitarian or development settings with a focus on quality, accountability and standards
8. Extensive knowledge and understanding on CHS
9. Experience of applying CHS, Sphere Standards and other humanitarian quality and accountability frameworks
10. Possess strong project management and coordination skills to steer work from start to finish
11. An experienced communicator able to converse with multiple teams and at different levels
12. Proficient in data collection, monitoring and evaluation
13. Competent and literate with IT applications
14. Culturally sensitive and able to work with diverse teams and in challenging environments
15. Experience of balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
16. Possess ethical standards and integrity
17. Computer literate and competent with MS Office packages
18. Fluent written and spoken English is essential. Additional languages such as Arabic, Urdu are desirable
19. Passionate and knowledgeable about the international development sector
