Company: Fully electric company car, Growing Business - Great Progression Available
Our client is looking for an experienced and cultured General Manager / Head of Business to step into a regional role within a busy and growing car dealership group. It will be your responsibility to lead and inspire a large team across an initial 3 or 4 Used Car Dealerships based in the south of England, with sites located in Surrey, Kent, and London. The ability to travel between sites is essential. Heavy growth is planned for the end of 2024 and into 2025, so this role may grow and develop in the future.
Alongside your customer-centric attitude, you will be commercially minded, passionate about the car industry, and motivated by setting, achieving, and exceeding targets. This role would suit an experienced head of business, general manager, or dealer principal who is looking for their next step.
Role Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will have:
1. A proven track record in driving results within a fast-paced, volume-based business within the Automotive Industry.
2. A strong used car background - ideally from a used car supermarket.
3. The ability to lead by example, manage, and inspire the team to deliver incredible performance.
4. Strong customer focus.
5. Great computer literacy.
6. Strong communication and negotiation skills.
7. Self-motivation.
8. Experience of working with Aftersales / Service departments would be an added advantage but isn't essential.
Your Responsibilities
1. Leading and motivating a large but cohesive team - overall responsibility for circa 300 staff.
2. To unleash the potential of each site by setting stretching objectives and providing regular feedback on performance against these objectives to the general managers on site.
3. Ensure that compliance is enforced and that it meets all the obligations relating to the customer experience.
4. Report site performance to the Sales Director and to the board of directors on occasion.
5. Pioneer new strategies and techniques to inspire the team.
6. Oversee and organise the aftersales/service function on the sites in conjunction with the operations director.
Working Pattern
Your working pattern will cover a mixture of weekends and weekdays, mainly long days of 4 or 5 days per week, rota dependent. The dealership is open until 10pm, so the shifts will be long but highly profitable. An extended in-house training period will be required initially - this will mean travel to other parts of the business to absorb the company culture and processes, with accommodation, mileage, etc. to be expensed by the company.
