Payroll Specialist, Europe
Fixed Term 12 month contract initially
Location: Crewe Cheshire; Hybrid working preference
The opportunity:
Reporting to the European Manager, you will support the end-to-end processing of the European Payrolls for all Assurant businesses (currently 12), ensuring that all staff are paid on time and accurately, together with ensuring that all internal and statutory payroll requirements are undertaken in a timely manner.
Main Responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist include:
* Processing of New Hires, Terminations, Absences, Overtime, Bonus Payments, Statutory & Country specific payments for all European payrolls.
Other responsibilities include:
* Process monthly payroll services for all employees in Europe.
* Work with employees, managers, People Organisation, other business teams & 3rd party providers to ensure processes are completed accurately.
* Ensure all payroll data is provided and observing monthly timetables.
* Use AI tools to resolve, log, track and escalate all inquiries.
* Help with Tax year end activities.
Ensure compliance and continuous improvements:
* Follow Payroll procedures and ensure procedures are up to date.
* Stay current on regulatory and policy changes affecting payroll processing cycles.
* Follow country specific regulatory & legislative compliance & specific reporting.
* Customer service support for Tier 1 queries (Basic payroll tasks, uploads, calculations and simple pay queries).
* Support Tier 2 payroll queries (Complex payroll scenarios, project delivery and continuous improvement).
* Support special projects such as systems implementations and upgrades, Plan changes, acquisitions, process improvement plans.
* Contribute to People Organization Services ongoing process improvement plans.
You will have the following:
* Fluency in English (C1/C2), verbal and written.
* Payroll experience in a complex, multi-country organisation.
* Knowledge of payroll concepts, regulatory practices, accounting and benefits.
* Experience with the necessity for accurate payroll reporting for the group, HMRC and other country tax authorities.
* Professional communication skills at all levels with different media.
* Have worked in a team environment and remotely.
* Experience working in a regulated environment.
* Proficient in Microsoft with Excel knowledge.
* Experienced with payroll legislation: PAYE, National Insurance and Statutory Payments.
* High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
