The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Colne Community School for a Learning Support Lead responsible for Communication and Interaction to join our SEND Team. Our school is a community in which we believe everyone, students and staff alike, should have the opportunity to be nourished and grow. Therefore, we are seeking to recruit a proactive and forward-thinking member of staff to enrich the skills and experience already present in our SEND Team. We aim to foster an inclusive culture where everyone is able to learn from each other. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, confident, and diligent.

Our school community is expanding which makes this a particularly unique and exciting time to join our team. We have a new teaching block consisting of 8 new classrooms and 4 specialist Design and Technology rooms fully equipped. A further large scale internal refurbishment took place over the 2022/23 academic year which has further improved our school environment for all.

This post is for 32.5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year + 1 non-pupil day.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
* To design, implement and oversee the speech and language intervention offer
* To form clear strategies and guidance in line with the ordinarily available strategies and the communication and interaction area of need, so classroom-based staff are updated and informed.
* To develop interaction-based interventions including interventions utilizing comic strip conversations.
* To monitor and track the effectiveness of communication and interaction-based interventions.
We're looking for you if you have:
* GCSE Maths and English (A*-C) or equivalent
* Understand procedures and legislation relating to confidentiality
* Working knowledge of the communication and interaction category of need
* Ability to resolve routine problems independently
