Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to work in the group of Prof Maria Grazia Spillantini at the Department of Clinical Neurosciences of the University of Cambridge. The candidate will investigate mechanisms of alpha-synuclein pathology spreading, in a new transgenic mouse model with alpha-synuclein expression in the gut. Candidates are expected to be independent, highly motivated, and keen to work collaboratively with internal and external scientists and hold the values of the labs, which include enthusiasm, openess and integrity. Experience on study of Parkinson's models is relevant; Familiarity with Parkinson's disease mouse models, alpha-synuclein and its aggregation, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence, use of confocal microscopy is required. Statistical data evaluation and human organoid culture and sectioning is an advantage The research assistant will present results at group meetings and will prepare reports.
