Job Title: Finance Manager Reports to: Head of Finance Directorate: Business Services Term: Interim role Job Purpose Manage the financial accounting and payroll systems, ensuring accuracy and integrity. Responsible for monthly management accounts, annual statutory accounts, financial controls, and procedures. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily finance operations. Supervise Finance and Payroll Officers. Ensure compliance with reporting deadlines and statutory requirements. Maintain and improve financial controls and processes. Manage relationships with suppliers, auditors, and government bodies. Provide regular and ad hoc management reports. Handle tax compliance and VAT returns. Administer financial systems and manage system upgrades. Ensure timely completion of month-end processes. Manage supplier compliance with procurement policies. Support budget holders and review management accounts. Assist with internal and external audits. Liaise with HMRC and pension administrators. Cover for various finance roles as needed. Delegate for the Head of Finance when required. Person Specification Experience in a similar role, preferably in a small to medium-sized organization. Ability to provide financial information to non-financial managers. Strong relationship-building skills. High technical competence and attention to detail. Knowledge of management accounts. AAT Level 2 or above is desirable. Experience with audits. Skills Prioritize workload to meet deadlines. Customer service approach with flexibility. Team player with a hands-on attitude. Excellent communication skills. Analytical and advanced Excel skills. Additional Information 36 hours per week with flexibility required. Hybrid working: two days in the office per week. (1 day to be a Wednesday) Some out-of-hours work and travel may be required.
