Following the signing of our 20-year lease agreement securing our successful business in a struggling industry for the future, we are looking for enthusiastic individuals to support our manager in the running of our front of house with the delivery of our fantastic service at The Milking Parlour. We are looking to fill a few positions following the departure of our assistant going on their travels who incidentally was only a regular bar staff this time last year gaining 2 promotions in a year, which emphasizes the progression we try to give at Tollgate! Ideally, any applicants will not be leaving for university as these candidates will become the core group of our team for as long as they are with us. Candidates must expect to work their hours over both the weekends and in the week (my intention is to put people on 2 half days over Friday/Saturday/Sunday where possible as a starting point!). Hours can also be made higher at times in assisting at our other local venues when available or learning even helping with kitchen which would look great for your CV's going forward! These positions could go to one person on more hours for the right candidate and possibly on a contract basis.
This role will require you to supervise the bar, provide excellent service to our friendly customers and maintain standards around the venue. All training will be provided and although previous experience is NOT essential, it would of course be beneficial - That isn't to say that the right attitude isn't more important than experience sometimes though so if you have an interest in hospitality this could be a perfect start to the industry with us being a smaller, simpler venue than most!
At The Milking Parlour, Tollgate Brewery, service finishes no later than 9pm, so you can expect to be finished by around 9:30pm making the hours much more sociable than comparable positions in other hospitality venues.
Your main responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
* Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the bar, including opening and closing procedures which includes unlocking and locking of the venue
* Regularly running shifts on certain days (at a current rate of £11.92/hour)
* Change barrels and gas in cellar when required (Training will be given)
* Ensuring excellent customer service and satisfaction
* Helping to train new staff and supervising other bar staff.
* Taking food orders and running pizzas to customers
Requirements:
* Previous experience in hospitality is NOT essential but of course beneficial. The ability and willingness to learn quickly is great too should you not have previous experience!
* A personality. We love encouraging staff to be themselves and our customers enjoy being able to chat - Which we encourage when possible!
* Understanding of food safety regulations and best practices are a bonus
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Must be at least 18 years old to be able to sell alcohol without supervision as you will become the supervisor.
* Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Most hours will possibly begin as a second member of staff at the weekends while training is given at a standard rate of £11.14 or £11.44/hour regardless of age. Once trained and trusted as a supervisor, more week day shifts will become available too as a supervisor at an extra £1.30/hour
Successful applicants will begin training as soon as they are available on a probatory period of 3 months in which we would expect successful candidates to be trained to supervisor standard by then, if not sooner.
If any candidates have an interest in Social media while being successful with social campaigns, this could also be utilised to help progress this in a business capacity. Any other skills or interest that can be beneficial to Tollgate we are more than happy to explore!
