Overview
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Commercial Manager / Project Commercial Director to join one of the UK's largest contractors. This role involves working on one of the largest construction projects in Southeast England, overseeing a significant package of works within the wider commercial function. The company is a leader in civil engineering and infrastructure sectors.
This position is part of the senior commercial team on a £25bn project. The scheme spans over 10 years, with ample opportunities for future projects in the area. The role entails managing the overall commercial packages for large sections of the project.
Role Purpose
Our client seeks candidates experienced in managing all commercial aspects of large schemes and leading a team effectively.
Responsibilities
1. Understanding of dispute resolution including options, structure, techniques, experts, etc.
2. Application of legislation and liaising with legal experts.
3. Managing the preparation of estimates and tender submissions, including interpreting specifications and preambles.
4. Representing financial and contractual interests during progress meetings.
5. Coordinating buying, accounts, production control/planning, supply chain management, procurement, estimating, and surveying functions.
6. Managing and reporting on commercial risks and opportunities.
7. Managing disallowed costs.
8. Providing commercial input to buildability and value engineering reviews.
9. Reviewing tenders and cost data.
10. Coordinating the commercial team to identify and address programme issues.
11. Managing the preparation and presentation of monthly CVRs and commercial reports.
12. Feeding back commercial data to planning, estimating, marketing, and sales teams.
13. Leading commercial discussions with customers and stakeholders.
14. Establishing client supply chain requirements and advising on contract and procurement options.
15. Formulating and managing resource procurement plans.
Experience
Degree in Quantity Surveying (BSc or MSc) or equivalent experience.
