JOB TITLE: Controller
LOCATION: Eastgate Shopping Centre, Basildon
HOURS: 42 hours per week
SALARY: £28,850.6 per annum
SHIFT PATTERN: 3 on 3 off days plus cover nights
OVERVIEW OF JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a CCTV Controller who is a team player, flexible, proactive, and has report writing experience. You must be calm under pressure and able to respond to emergency situations with strong IT experience and knowledge. This role involves supporting the control room supervisor in the management and delivery of security within the shopping centre environment. Duties include CCTV monitoring and operation of all security and fire systems in the control room. You will need to be an excellent communicator with common sense and a can-do attitude.
The CCTV Controller will ensure exemplary standards of security and customer service are always provided to the client and visitors to the site.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Manage all control room procedures in line with the CCTV codes of practice.
2. Carry out regular camera patrols of the shopping centre as detailed in the site Assignment Instructions, being always proactive.
3. Issue access passes, keys & radios, ensuring that the issue logs are kept up to date & report any anomalies to the control room supervisor.
4. Support and provide guidance to the soft service manager and shopping centre management.
5. Liaise closely with statutory authorities and security supervisor in dealing with incidents and the provision of information.
6. Continuously manage and monitor CCTV, Fire Panels, Intruder Panels, and associated specialist security equipment.
7. Monitor and surveil suspect individuals, logging and reporting incidents in line with site and company policies.
8. Control and prioritise incidents ensuring all key personnel are always kept fully informed and agreed escalation procedures are followed.
9. Diligently manage and maintain records and reference materials, including Incident Reports, control room logs, and emails, ensuring strict compliance with GDPR and associated regulations.
10. Manage and monitor access & egress to and from the service yards and management office.
11. Ensure that the shopping centre is a safe and non-threatening environment for all customers and site staff.
12. Support the soft service manager to ensure necessary security audits are undertaken and any non-compliance highlighted and managed to completion.
13. Manage excellent relationships with our client, suppliers, and other partners.
14. Interact with all visitors and tenants within the shopping centre, delivering first-class customer-focused service.
15. Aid third-party contractors/visitors ensuring all site procedures and policies are adhered to.
Person Specification:
1. Strong IT ability – including Excel, Word, Outlook.
2. Experience operating fire alarm systems in a busy environment.
3. Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Good knowledge of the local area.
5. Excellent levels of customer service at all times.
6. Demonstrated ability to think and act quickly in emergencies or under pressure.
7. A smart appearance befitting the company.
8. Good organisational skills, flexibility, and reliability.
9. Fully aware of current CCTV policies and data protection requirements.
10. The post holder must, at all times, carry out their duties and responsibilities to comply with policies/procedures.
11. Monitor and operate the CCTV cameras and associated equipment in the CCTV Control Room.
12. Respond to all incidents, taking ownership of the situation through to its natural conclusion to both client and management satisfaction.
13. Effective communication with the Client, Soft Service Manager, Security Shift Supervisor, and Security.
Essential:
1. A valid SIA Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) licence.
2. CCTV/Security control room experience.
Desirable:
A valid SIA Door Supervision licence.
