At YBS, our business strategy has informed our Leadership, Learning, and Talent priorities, which is why our Learning Partner role is such an interesting opportunity. We have an ambitious roadmap that we are driving and delivering, and we need our colleagues to have opportunities to continually learn and stay relevant, and the right set of capabilities to succeed.
We also encourage flexible working, so please get in touch if you’d like to discuss flexible or reduced working hours. Our Leadership, Learning, and Talent team are currently hybrid working, so sometimes you’ll be working from home, and on other occasions, be at our Leeds or Bradford offices.
About the role
Our team of Learning Partners provides dedicated support to specific areas of our business to deliver a first-class learning experience, putting human-centred design at the heart.
As a Learning Partner, you will dedicate your time to working with key stakeholders across People, Finance, and Internal Audit to understand the capabilities needed in those business areas, exploring pain points and opportunities for where learning might be a solution. You will then work closely with other members of the People Division to co-create and deliver solutions which support our greater YBS people strategy and deliver against the business requirements.
Working alongside the People Partner for the business areas, your role is to work with key stakeholders applying your specialist knowledge and expertise to conduct a root cause before proposing solutions.
You will then go on to play a key role in shaping the design, development, and deployment of solutions, facilitate their delivery, and coach colleagues as they embed learning and spend time following up and evaluating learning benefits. By doing this, you will ensure that the business area you are supporting has the skills and capabilities they need for the future, helping to reduce people risks, such as retention. You will keep abreast of the latest thinking related to learning effectiveness and introduce new perspectives, methods, and technologies to our current approach.
The Learning Partner for People, Finance, and Internal Audit joins YBS at an exciting time, where they can help to shape the work we are doing on future skills. We have identified key skills which are fundamental to ensuring our people have the capabilities to deliver our strategy and serve our customers as the world around us rapidly changes, and this has formed the basis of the Future Skills project. The Learning Partner will play a key part in engaging key stakeholders from the People, Finance, and Internal Audit areas to drive forward Future Skills, ensuring active engagement in learning, meaningful participation in, and constant evaluation of action plans and impact of learning solutions.
Importantly, you won’t be doing all this in isolation. You will collaborate with two existing Learning Partners, the Learning Partner Lead, and with other colleagues in the learning network and People Division to promote the build of a learning culture, to bring consistency and efficiency to learning solution design and delivery, and to share learning for themselves. You may also work with third parties from time to time to complement our capabilities.
About you
* Ideally, you will have a learning background and/or a good appreciation of current learning trends and theory, and how learning can help with business changes and operational demands. You will have experience of developing capabilities in others through the design and delivery of impactful learning solutions. You will have the ability to do some design work yourself as well as work with internal and external designers.
* We are also looking for someone who has experience of working in a highly regulated environment such as financial services. For the People, Finance, and Internal Audit role, you will not need to have deep technical expertise in these areas, but you will need to understand the complexities and challenges faced in a highly regulated environment at a time of digital transformation, including the impact on colleagues, and the frameworks used to understand and support the development of the capabilities required now and into the future, and which can help build clear career pathways for colleagues.
* You will have strength in consulting and collaborating with others, curiously exploring to get to the root cause of issues. You will be comfortable engaging with a range of stakeholders and be able to adapt your style to deliver the best results and to influence as necessary.
* You will have strong self-management skills and be able to balance how and where you invest your time. You will have strong project management, planning, and delivery skills and be resourceful in how you make things happen.
* You will be familiar with using data to support your decisions. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills.
* You will love using your initiative and also collaborating with others in pursuit of learning success. You will thrive on finding the best way to deliver desired outcomes at pace.
* At heart, you will be a self-directed learner who just loves applying your learning. You get a kick from inspiring others to be the same.
