Experienced Social Worker, Grade 12 (£48,531 - £50,574)
We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic qualified and registered Experienced Social Worker to work in our Older People Locality Team which is based in Croydon. It is a dynamic and vibrant service for people aged between 65 and above.
The Older People Locality Team is a fast-paced service, where we like to keep challenging ourselves to achieve best practice and outcomes. We are a resilient team that is both welcoming and value-driven. We believe firmly in co-production and coming together to find a shared solution. Working with us will provide you with opportunities for professional and personal growth as well as positive career advancement opportunities.
For this role, you will need to have completed your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience. We recognise there will be exceptions to this, so please speak to us if you are in any doubt. We need a committed knowledgeable social worker to help us with our core business – empowering and supporting people who need signposting, community support, or even some direct help from the Council. We have a strong operating model of strength-based practice.
You will be responsible for managing a range of cases, supporting residents and their families through the assessment and review process. You will supervise team members and provide support to the team, sharing your knowledge and skills.
We work with people who have a wide range of additional needs and complex conditions. We challenge inequality and traditional responses to service delivery and ensure that we employ a strength-based approach to our work. The responsibilities will include undertaking reviews, completing carers and adult needs assessments, covering duty, carrying out Safeguarding triages, attending relevant meetings with partner agencies, and attending court hearings. We believe in co-production and feel passionately that the people we support should be firmly in control of their life outcomes.
You will have spent some time post-ASYE learning your role, taken on some supervision, complex cases, and completed extra training, perhaps as a PEP or BIA.
There is 1 vacant post in Thornton Heath locality based in Bernard Weatherill House. You will work with other professionals in an integrated service providing strengths-based assessments to promote independence and support people to remain living in their own homes.
Applicants wishing to join our aspiring and progressive adult social care services teams will have a commitment to team working and an enthusiasm for contributing to sharing ideas that support the development of all our services. Candidates will demonstrate professionalism, creativity, and drive in their approach to person-centered practice and problem-solving, and an ability to work flexibly in response to a rapidly changing public service environment. Additionally, the staff here at Croydon are friendly, and the transport links are excellent, as indeed is the support for working from home.
The Opportunities
In the context of developing our services to continue to meet the challenges of the current situation, we have moved to Locality working with a clear emphasis on Strength Based working, including short and longer-term work. You will receive a comprehensive induction, regular supervision from a named supervisor, practice learning sessions, appraisal, and annual salary increment. Your case load will be based on case weighting.
