An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Adults and Health Directorate for a Governance Support Officer in the Strategy & Governance Team.
This role will be providing high quality and flexible administrative/project support to the Strategy & Governance Team and wider directorate. As a Governance Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in providing specialist advice and high-quality business assurance and governance support to our directorate.
Contract: This is a fixed term/secondment opportunity (maternity cover until April 2026)

About the role
In this role, you will be at the heart of our governance operations, ensuring the effective management of various boards and coordination with senior managers, members, and external partners. Your day-to-day tasks will be varied and fast-paced, requiring a high degree of initiative and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
* Leading and maintaining a range of boards/meetings, plans, and reports.
* Providing administration support to boards and meetings, including organising meetings, coordinating reports, and ensuring timely submission and distribution of high-quality papers.
* Managing the forward plan and ensuring strategic oversight from the senior management team.
* Building effective working relationships with internal and external partners at all levels.
* Implementing and reviewing the use of standardised templates and maintaining a central SharePoint area for saving reports.
Any-Desk:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.
About you
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with substantial relevant experience and a passion for governance. You should have excellent relationship-building abilities, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

* Substantial relevant experience demonstrating success in a similar work environment.
* Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to network and develop strong working relationships at all levels.
* Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
* Good presentation and report writing skills.
* Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* A high degree of political awareness and the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.
* Educated to NVQ 4/HND/BTEC standard or equivalent.
