Role overview
Introduction to the role: This is a prominent role in managing and delivering business development and marketing plans for the Business Services Group (BSG), working closely with the head of BSG, partners, and other fee earners as well as drawing on specialist skills from within the Business Development and Marketing (BD&M) team and other parts of the firm, coordinating these individuals so the fee earners receive a single point of liaison and a ‘joined up’ service and delivery.
BSG has team presence in our Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, London, and Newcastle offices.
Introduction to the team: You will be part of the BD&M team and will report directly to the Head of Business Partnering. Although the focus of this role is to be a key point of contact for the Business Services Group, all members of the wider BD&M team are expected to support the work of the wider business development plans and other parts of the firm as needed.
Key internal stakeholders: BD&M i.e. wider Business Partnering team, Bids, Events, CRM, Digital, Communications, and Client Development; Finance, Insights team; Knowledge Services; IT; and crucially Business Services Group Leader, Partners, fee earners, and professional support lawyers (PSLs).
Key responsibilities:
Relationship and stakeholder management
* Operate as a key point of contact for the Business Services Group, providing structure and visibility across BSG on activity planned/delivered and enabling/ensuring a joined-up approach across teams.
* Facilitate the execution of plans through communicating with and effectively delegating to your direct report and the wider BD&M team.
* Identify, plan, and implement business development opportunities through networking, sponsorship, and partnering with intermediaries and other third parties.
Project management and campaigns
* Drive, coordinate, and project manage BSG marketing projects.
* Support the wider BD&M team in the delivery of the following firm-wide projects on behalf of BSG: a) website content review b) CRM integration and champions, c) brand d) client development programme.
* Work closely with the Marketing team to input into campaign content that is aligned to client/market needs e.g. Independent Health.
Planning and budgets
* Working with Head of BP and Business Group Lead and Team Leaders to build and communicate the business group marketing, travel, and client entertainment budgets.
* Manage and support BSG partners with the monitoring and delivery of the BSG marketing budget items focusing on value assessment and prioritisation.
BP marketing calendar delivery and measurement
* Facilitating smooth delivery of the BP marketing calendar.
* Managing the out-of-budget requests process, working with BSG partners to build a business case and focusing on value assessment and prioritisation to optimise the return on discretionary budget.
* Working with other BPs to manage a consistent structured approach to measure and report on results and ROI outcomes for marketing activities.
Reporting and MI
* Devise monitoring and reporting dashboards and produce regular progress reports and plans for the Business Group Lead and other key stakeholders to manage expectations and gain input as appropriate to ensure progress.
