More information is available on our Career site at Job Details This is an operational role with the responsibility of ensuring the efficient and safe operation and maintenance of mechanical engineering services in relation to Fife Council's non domestic building stock. The post holder will have a mechanical building engineering background (plumbing/ heating etc) and will have responsibility for overseeing planned maintenance and arising repair requirements of mechanical services. The successful applicant will cover an area of Fife dealing with non-domestic properties issuing repair lines and carrying out surveys to suggest planned maintenance items for the coming years. Working 36 hours Monday to Friday, this position is on salary band FC7 (£32,437 to £40,358 P.A.). As a progressive employer, we offer the opportunity to work in this role as a "blended working" arrangement with home-working opportunities and occasional office-working as required. While the significant part of the role can and will be carried out remotely, candidates should be able to travel to and attend office locations in Fife as required. Responsible for the effective operation of engineering systems such as, but not limited to:

* Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant
* DHWS & CWS systems
* Rainwater harvesting plant
* Drainage/sewerage
* Ventilation plant
* Air conditioning and refrigeration
* BMS control systems
Visiting Council properties within your area of responsibility to discuss and agree with clients the requirements of all major repairs and maintenance work to be taken into account during the preparation of list of Planned Maintenance projects relevant to the revenue budget allocation. Authorising repairs up to an agreed value as well as Liaising and working with other Inspectors as and when required, providing support and assistance to colleagues, including cover for properties in other areas when colleagues are on leave, off sick or at other times when support is required.,

Educated to SCQF level 7 which includes HNC or Advanced Highers or equivalent in a relevant building engineering services or mechanical engineering discipline and considerable experience post qualifying in an appropriate post it is expect that the successful candidate will have experience of working in a building services engineering environment across a wide range of building types.
Experience of the planned and breakdown maintenance procedures for a wide range of engineering equipment is essential as is experience in diagnosing faults on a wide range of mechanical engineering equipment including but not limited to the systems mentioned above. Good customer service skills, along with communication skills are also essential as is a current driving license.
