At BPAS, we have an exciting part-time opportunity for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our Luton unit working alternate Thursdays, 08:30 to 16:30.
You will assist the clinical team to maintain and improve high standards of client care within the operating department and recovery areas of the unit. You will also carry out assigned tasks unsupervised in support of a registered practitioner and care for our clients.
About You
You will have experience working in healthcare, especially in a hospital, GP practice, or operating theatre setting. With a positive can-do attitude, you will enjoy working as part of a team and be passionate about helping and caring for others.
Candidates will need to be comfortable with terminations of pregnancy and seeing this procedure in theatre.
We are also looking for:
* Care certificate in healthcare / NVQ Level 3 in health and social care / Diploma in health and support level 3
* Positive attitude to change
* Willingness to learn
Main Duties of the Job
* Assist with the care, support, and observations of the client before and after treatment, reporting findings to the Registered Practitioners.
* Assist in the preparation and serving of refreshments.
* Help check and prepare the operating department environment and equipment prior to use, between clients, and at the end of a list.
* Undertake counts of swabs, instruments, and needles in conjunction with another trained member of the surgical team, and assist the surgical team during surgical procedures.
* Understand clients' individual needs and maintain a helpful, courteous approach to clients, visitors, and colleagues.

Further Information
Salary: £24,125 to £30,480 per annum pro rata - depending on skills and experience. (£12.37 to £15.63 per hour)
Hours: Alternate Thursdays - 08:30 to 16:30

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working in healthcare, especially in a hospital, GP practice, or operating theatre setting.
* Experience of working in theatre.
* Experience of working alongside clinicians.
Skills

* Willingness to learn.
Qualifications
* English and Maths qualification either GCSE A to C or Functional Skills Level 2 or GCSE 4* or NVQ level 2.
* NVQ Level 3 in health and social care.
* Diploma in health and support level 3.
* Care certificate in healthcare.
