Overview of the Role:
We’re looking for a creative Digital Design Lead to join our boots.com Digital Experience team and develop best-in-class digital solutions for our UK and ROI websites. This is a creative development role, working with a team of designers, copywriters, and UX specialists. You’ll be a guardian of the Boots Visual Identity and ensure we are delivering digital-first, on-brand, market-leading, customer-focused experiences. You’ll join a dynamic team who push boundaries and enjoy working in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
Your Responsibilities:
1. Develop customer-led digital design solutions for campaigns, brands, and best-in-class category pages, ensuring adherence to BVI guidelines (Boots Visual Identity) within the AEM (Adobe Experience Manager) templates.
2. Own the process from brief through insights, competitor analysis, design development, wireframing, build, testing, quality control, and final page approvals.
3. Cascade and ensure consistency of creative through guidance packs, handovers, and consultations with the design team, leading design team/peer review sessions.
4. Manage stakeholder relationships and approvals with internal teams and external agencies including Marketing, Planning, and Operations.
5. Work closely with the UX, eCommerce, and Insights teams to optimise the pages, process A/B test outputs and AEM capabilities, review competitor activity, and make recommendations for improving the customer experience.
6. Work with UX Accessibility specialists to ensure we’re meeting WCAG guidance and best practice.
7. Deputise for the Digital Design Manager as required.
8. Work with the project management workflow tool to ensure all projects are delivered right first time, on time. Regular checks on the status of projects throughout and communicate to the stakeholders with updates.
Our Ideal Candidate:
1. Digital design skills and experience of designing for an eCommerce site.
2. Proficient in using Adobe Creative Suite (in particular Photoshop) and Figma.
3. Understand and interpret analytical and customer experience data through tools such as Google Analytics and other digital experience tools.
4. Proficient in using a CMS (Adobe Experience Manager would be ideal).
5. Ability to interpret design briefs, confidently share ideas with others, with a customer-first mindset.
6. Ability to manage your own time, prioritise work, and meet deadlines.
7. Collaborative stakeholder management, presentation, and creative problem-solving skills.
8. Flexibility, as ‘out of hours’ working will be required.
9. Formal graphic design qualification would be desirable.
10. Some HTML/CSS ability would be beneficial.
