Blue Arrow Derby is proud to be working in partnership with UK's leading manufacturers of boilers, heat pumps & heating systems and they are looking to recruit a Tooling Engineer to join their team on a full-time permanent basis based at their Belper plant.
Reporting to the Tool team manager, you will be part of the engineering department that is responsible for all current model, new product introduction, engineering, and continuous improvement activities within the plant. You will be part of a team of engineers collaborating across functions, from Production, Quality, Supply Chain and maintenance.
Hours: Mon - Thurs 8.30 - 17.00 and Friday 8.30 - 15.00
What duties are involved in the Tooling Production Engineer role?
1. Work with the tooling team to help resolve quality as well as mechanical problems and repair minor issues along with equipment adjustments as required, for press tools, Jigs and fixtures, assembly tooling, etc. across the site.
2. Plan and provide relevant component samples for downstream process trials, R&D trails and sample builds.
3. Drive actions and improvements with cross functional teams to improve all KPIs for ensuring production attainment, efficiency, quality, and scrap reduction objectives accomplishment.
4. Support production and tool technicians in ensuring robust systems and processes are in place for managing tools, tool room and change overs, bringing the principles of SMED to all equipment change overs.
5. Work with NPI Project engineers and tool team to implement new products to existing and new production lines.
What will you bring to the Tooling Engineer?
1. Qualifications - Educated to degree level but individuals with HNC, relevant qualifications and industrial experience will be considered with experience in a similar role.
2. Previous experience as Tooling / Production Engineer or similar.
3. Must have knowledge of press tooling, jigs and fixtures in addition to lean manufacturing principles, to aid process improvements and efficiencies in production line capabilities.
4. A strong background in a mechanical engineering, as well as relevant practical experience in one or all, press tooling / sheet metal / jigs and fixtures manufacturing environment.
5. The ability to manage small to medium sized projects, demonstrating control of specification to implementation, with a strong understanding in timelines and presenting status to a team and management.
6. A strong understanding of press shop, production lines and tooling KPI's from O.E.E, CMM reports, Cpk, FMEA, control plans, etc.
7. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to generate innovative concepts and ideas.
