Job Description:
An excellent opportunity has become available for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join a dedicated Adult Inpatient Neurological Rehabilitation team based in Nottingham City. This locum role offers the chance to work within a forward-thinking and supportive NHS team, delivering high-quality care to patients with a range of complex neurological conditions.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience working in inpatient settings and be confident in independently managing a neuro rehab caseload. You’ll be a vital part of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to effective care planning and supporting timely and safe discharges.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out occupational therapy assessments and interventions for adult inpatients with neurological conditions.
* Manage a complex and varied caseload independently within an acute or rehab setting.
* Work closely with the wider MDT to deliver coordinated and patient-centred care.
* Participate actively in discharge planning, ensuring safe and timely transitions from hospital to home or onward care.
* Identify and respond to patients who are acutely unwell or showing signs of deterioration.
* Adapt and prioritise workload effectively in response to changing clinical needs throughout the day or week.
* Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records in line with professional and NHS documentation standards.
Essential Requirements:
* HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist.
* Previous NHS experience working in adult inpatient settings.
* Strong background in neurological rehabilitation.
* Able to work autonomously and contribute effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Proven ability to identify clinical deterioration and escalate appropriately.
* Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and time management skills.
* Ability to manage and prioritise workload flexibly and independently.
Desirable Experience:
* Familiarity with stroke rehab, traumatic brain injury, or progressive neurological conditions.
* Experience with NHS discharge planning processes and community referrals.
* Proficient in using assessment tools such as MoCA, FIM, AMPS, or similar
