Thesesenior specialistpositions rarelyarise – but due toretirement,we arecurrentlyrecruiting to two senior roles – one full time and one30 hours a week.
You will join thefriendly andexperiencedteam ofDietitians,supportworkers, and administrative staff, who support a large caseload of people enterally feedingat home– currently 730 patients.We are proud to be part of the wider Nutrition and Dietetic team at UHBW.
We work in close partnership witha commercial provider, through the enteral feeding contract. Based at Central Health Clinic in Bristol, we cover alargearea, stretching from Weston-Super-Mare to Bath and Thornbury;howeverwith fantastic IT infrastructure we support remote working, meaning you will not have to travel into the city centredaily.
The post holder will provideenteralfeedingexpertiseto a highly clinically complex cohort of patientsright across the age spectrum – includingadults,childrenandbabies.As a senior member of the dietetic team, the rolealso provides clinicalexpertise,leadershipand collaborative working to achieve the sharedobjectivesof the UHBW Nutrition and Dietetic Service.
As daily travel is an integral part of the job, you must be a driver with your own transport.
The Senior Specialist Dietitian:
• Provideshighlyspecialist and practicaldietetic advice for individually referred tube fed patients in the community– adults and children
• Assessment of patients on an individual basisand the provision of evidence-based information and support relating toenteral feeding
• ‘Prescription’ of the mostappropriate tubefeeding regimenin accordance withprotocols (off FP10) and arrangement for the delivery of the components of the regimen
• Close liaison with all personnel (particularly specialist company nurses) involved in the management of the patient- working on a multi-professional, multi-agency basis
• Communication about complex programs of care to patients and their carersalong with robust monitoring and follow-up arrangements
• Delivery of school clinics
• Directly line managesB6dietitians and/ordietetic support workers, including appraisal & supervision.
• Participates in the training/developmentofB6dietitians, assistantgradesanddietetic students.
• Will be committed to the maintenance of personal specialistexpertise, which is current,relevantand accessible.
