We are currently expanding our infrastructure management team and are looking for proven technology managers with experience in people management, strong technical understanding and the drive and vision to take Amazon.com Data Centre Operations to the next level. The successful candidate will have experience managing people with varying skill sets, creating, tracking, and controlling budgets, devising strategies, mentoring people in all levels, sponsoring projects and proposing technical solutions. Key job responsibilities • Ensure the highest level of adherence to safety procedures and policies and maintain and develop a strong safety culture within the team. • Create and maintain all Decom Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to meet industry best practices and to meet required SLAs • Recommend, document, and oversee existing policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and to meet required SLAs • Report on all Decom activities and ensure asset management records are maintained to the highest levels • Recruit and train decom technicians to ensure appropriate staffing levels • Guide, train and educate decom staff on the best practices related to all service owner issues • Maintain the Decom staff schedule coordinating absence and vacations • Manage and deliver mid-size projects such as large decom events, equipment maintenance and installation. • Lead a diverse team of decom technicians with varying skills • Manage Vendor relationships with equipment providers • Liaise and manage 3rd party contractors who engaged to assist with decommissioning events. • Provide weekly report to the Cluster Manager • Assist in writing and deliver performance reviews for staff • Must be commutable to the Thames Valley Region. A day in the life Customer trust is foremost for cloud services provided by Amazon Web Services. Our customers must be guaranteed that their data will never be exposed. This Decom Tech will be part of a team that executes the decommissioning & tracking of all equipment that is damaged or leaving the Datacentre. This includes but is not limited to all media types (disks, solid state disks, flash cards etc). The Decom Tech will be responsible for ensuring that all operational processes are followed during any decommissioning event and must ensure all work is carried out safely and securely. Basic Qualifications - Data Centres are 24/7 environments and whilst this role is predominantly an in-hours role there maybe occasional out of hours work including weekends based on workload. - 5 years of working in an IT operations environment across datacentres or managed services. - 5 years of Technical Leadership Preferred Qualifications - Associate’s degree or higher in IT-related field applicable certifications or/and equivalent professional experience. - Experience leading a technical team. - Experience developing operational metrics to drive efficiencies.
