Are you committed to making a difference in the lives of students with special educational needs? We're searching for a dedicated and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join our enthusiastic team at our SEN upper school
Role Overview:
In this role, you will be essential in supporting students with a range of needs, concentrating on their safety, emotional health, and educational development. You'll work closely with the Head of Learning or a designated teacher to help deliver the curriculum both in and out of the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Support:
1. Provide individual or small group assistance to promote students' physical, emotional, educational, and social growth.
2. Encourage independent learning through structured activities and programs.
3. Build supportive relationships to enhance students' self-esteem, independence, and resilience.
4. Foster an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported.
Classroom Assistance:
5. Help teachers plan and implement tailored lesson plans.
6. Maintain an organised and supportive classroom environment.
7. Ensure smooth transitions between different activities throughout the school day.
8. Track and report on student progress and achievements.
Additional Responsibilities:
9. Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities.
10. Supervise students during non-classroom times, including before and after school and during lunch.
11. Assist with school trips and other external activities.
12. Adhere to the school's safeguarding and student welfare policies.
Person Specification:
Essential:
13. NVQ Level 2 or an equivalent qualification.
14. At least one year of experience as a Teaching Assistant or Classroom Assistant.
15. Knowledge of educational practices related to child welfare and education.
16. Strong ability to build relationships with students and colleagues and work effectively in a team.
Desirable:
17. Additional qualifications in Education.
18. Experience with SEMH, ASD, and other special educational needs.
19. ICT proficiency and a First Aid qualification.
Requirements:
20. Compliance with the school's safeguarding policies and procedures.
21. Completion of an Enhanced Disclosure check upon appointment.
22. Flexibility to attend meetings outside regular school hours when necessary.
23. Physical ability to engage in Restrictive Physical Interventions if needed.
