Job Title: Procurement Assistant

Are you an excellent administrator looking for an opportunity to progress and work in procurement? We are seeking a Procurement Assistant to join our team at Farningham, procuring great quality products whilst directly maximising availability and margin.
What does the job involve?
To be successful in this role you will need to be hands-on, cost effectively sourcing and purchasing raw materials, whilst delivering excellent availability and minimal waste, without compromise on quality.
Responsibilities Include:
1. Procuring raw materials and packaging, negotiating pricing, quantities, and delivery schedules.
2. Managing stock to minimise waste and ensure accurate inventory records.
3. Liaising with the Technical and Packhouse Managers to meet demand during promotions.
4. Overseeing tray and pallet management, including daily hiring and de-hiring.
5. Maintaining accurate procurement records, including purchase orders, delivery notes, and invoices.
6. Ensuring compliance with packaging waste regulations and submitting data via Valpak.
7. Attending weekly crop meetings to discuss production and supply chain issues.
8. Coordinating product and packaging transfers between sites.
9. Completing customs import declarations and staying up to date with changes in import/export procedures.
10. Deputising for the Procurement Manager when required.
What we’re looking for?
1. Strong organisational skills with experience in procurement or supply chain.
2. Proficiency in Excel.
3. Knowledge of food safety and stock management procedures.
4. Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
5. Strong communication skills to liaise with suppliers and internal teams.
6. Self-motivated and able to work independently.
7. Previous experience working in produce or any other FMCG is desirable, but not required.
8. Due to the location of our site you must have your own transport.
Working Hours:
Working hours will be Monday to Friday, working 08:00-17:30 in our Farningham office. There will also be the requirement to work 1 in 3 weekends from home, working up to a maximum of 3 hours. Weekend hours can be worked flexibly around any personal commitments.
