This fixed-term role will provide critical financial support to academic and professional departments during a temporary secondment of the substantive post holder. You’ll play a key part in enabling financial excellence and operational efficiency.
About the Role
As an Assistant Accountant, you will work closely with senior finance professionals to provide essential financial advice and support. Key responsibilities include:
1. Preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial variance reports.
2. Assisting with financial planning, reporting, and the development of key performance indicators.
3. Supporting financial decision-making through accurate and timely data insights.
4. Providing training and guidance to colleagues on financial processes and governance.
5. Contributing to the development and implementation of new systems and reporting tools.

About You
We are looking for someone who is:
1. Studying towards a CCAB qualification (close to completion).
2. Experienced in working within a busy finance environment, including budgeting and variance analysis.
3. Highly numerate and confident handling large datasets.
4. A skilled communicator with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-specialists.
5. Proficient in Excel and other MS Office tools.
Desirable attributes include full CCAB qualification, experience in the higher education sector, and project or product costing expertise.
