Skills Practitioner – Painting & Decorating
College location: East Surrey College (Redhill)
Salary: Competitive (Subject to qualifications, skills and experience)
Hours: Full time (37 hours/week)
We are currently seeking to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic Skills Practitioner to join our busy and professional Construction department.
Working closely with the Director of Learning, Programme Manager, and the rest of the Construction team, you will have the opportunity to support students in their learning of practical skills by assisting them in either the workshop or with their classroom activities. Utilising your Painting and Decorating background, you will produce learning materials and teaching aids and assist in the preparation of learning areas for practical work.
You will assist the course leader in the supervision of students, student assessments, and ensure that student records are appropriately maintained, as well as deliver teaching as required. You will also maintain a stock of consumables in accordance with departmental needs, maintain a record of resources and equipment, and transport equipment and materials when necessary.
The successful candidate must have:
1. A Painting and Decorating based qualification (ideally at Level 2 or above)
2. A positive, self-motivated attitude and the ability to work well within a team
3. Experience working with young people
4. A Teaching Qualification is desirable (but not essential)
