We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and skilled HCPC registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join the Children & Young People's Autism Service: a multi-disciplinary assessment and intervention service. We are seeking someone with experience as a qualified psychologist in autism, neurodevelopmental or learning disability services, and a passion for delivering and developing psychologically informed provision for individuals with autism.
You will be responsible for providing highly specialist psychological input across three main areas:
* Autism assessment
* Highly specialist advice, support and intervention to CYP with a diagnosis of autism
* Highly specialist advice, support and intervention to young people (19-25) with an existing diagnosis of autism and an Education & Health Care Plan.
Consultation, supervision, training, leadership, and service development skills will also be essential elements of the post. This post has strong professional links through the Professional Lead for Psychological Services in the Children and Families Care Group, in addition to a number and range of Clinical and Counselling Psychology posts in the CYP Autism team.

Main duties of the job
The Clinical /Counselling Psychologist will provide highly specialist psychological assessments and interventions in the Children & Young People's Autism Service across the South Staffordshire area. This role involves highly complex assessments leading to psychological formulations, development of care plans, delivery of interventions to this population, and use of outcome measures to evaluate service effectiveness.
To provide highly specialist diagnostic assessments of children and young people, including standardised assessments such as ADOS 2 and ADI-R.
To work as a member of a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), presenting complex assessment information in MDT meetings and collaborating with colleagues to agree on whether referred children and young people meet diagnostic criteria for autism.
To provide a range of highly specialised post-diagnostic intervention services, including direct work with children and young people, group-based interventions, consultation and training for carers and professionals, and development of a range of information resources.
To provide highly specialist psychological input to the CYP Autism Service, including supervision of psychology staff (e.g., less experienced psychologists, Assistant Psychologists).

* Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups across the whole life course presenting with the full range of clinical severity across various care settings.
* Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and intervention, both as a professionally qualified care co-ordinator and within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan.
* Ability to work effectively within safeguarding procedures in the context of a therapeutic service.
Desirable
* Assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist.
* Experience working therapeutically with children and young people with significant emotional, behavioural or mental health difficulties, and their families/carers.
* Experience of working with CYP with social and communication difficulties associated with autism.
* Experience of group work, particularly relevant for Children and Young people with ASC and their carers.
* Experience of specialist standardised assessments for ASC such as ADOS 2 or ADI-R.
* Experience of working clinically with people who present with challenging behaviours, and/or communication difficulties.
* Experience of leading and contributing to the development of services.
* Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision.
Qualifications
Essential
* Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS including two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
* It is a condition of employment that the post-holder is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council and is eligible for registration as a Chartered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist.
* Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the relevant professional body.
* Good undergraduate degree (preferably relevant to psychological therapy).
* Current registration/accreditation with the appropriate body with a current practising certificate.
Desirable
* Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
* Further training in a specific psychological model/interventions specific to the role remit/area of work.
* Qualification in one or more recognised and accredited diagnostic assessment/s for Autistic Spectrum Conditions.
