The post holder will be required to work on a shift pattern, to assess patients across the urgent care pathway, working autonomously and flexibly to manage the day-to-day assessments and/or advising on management of CYP under the age of 18 years and their families presenting to A&E Diversion Hub based at Chase Farm, A&E and ward admission to Barnet hospital or North Middlesex University Hospital with self-harm and mental health difficulties and all other crisis colleagues across the North Central London (NCL).
The post holder will undertake a range of therapeutic tasks individually and jointly with members of the multi-disciplinary team. They will develop and maintain specialist clinical skills and expertise in the assessment of CYP psychiatric emergencies and deliberate self-harm. The role includes receiving and assessing referrals from A&E, pediatric/general wards, Community Teams, schools, and health colleagues across the NCL, as well as self-referrals from CYP and their families. The post holder will offer advice on management of patients with mental health issues and non-organically based physical symptoms, identifying regular attendees at Acute Hospitals with mental health problems and liaising with Community CAMHS teams to make available current care plans as and when appropriate.
There is a need to use effective and efficient IT skills in recording clinical information and in communicating with colleagues.
