We require a technical sales engineer who will often be the key point of contact for clients, answering queries, providing technical advice, and demonstrating product knowledge or services the company offers.
There will be requirements to visit clients to help provide solutions and measure for new blades, screens, or equipment under the direction of the sales manager.
Typical responsibilities of the job include:
1. The sales team and manager will generate leads and require the technical sales engineers to follow up and help establish new business sales and contacts.
2. The sales team and manager will, from time to time, require assistance on site visits, so there will be an element of travel within the role.
3. Liaising with existing clients and offering further solutions.
4. Preparing proposals and quotations in a timely manner and keeping the client informed if delays occur when waiting for prices.
5. Providing pre-sales and post-sales support.
6. Reviewing cost of parts we sell and manufacture.
7. Writing reports and sales literature.
8. Supporting other members of the sales team by training them in the use of products and services.
9. Attending trade exhibitions, conferences, and client meetings.
10. Ensuring that sales targets are met, as specified by the sales manager.
Qualifications:
1. Strong engineering and technical skills background, ability to read technical drawings, and measure up parts.
2. Research and analytical skills.
3. Organisational skills.
4. Communication skills, including the ability to explain clearly, listen to the feedback of clients, and relay this to colleagues.
5. The ability to negotiate with and influence others.
6. Teamworking skills.
7. Commercial awareness.
8. Stock and document management.
9. Computer literacy skills, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
10. Experience of using purchasing software, Sage is desirable; however, training will be given if needed.
A full driving licence is required.
Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 PA plus bonus and excellent benefit package.
