We are seeking a dedicated Head Veterinary Nurse to lead our team of three ophthalmology-specific nurses, delivering outstanding care to our patients.
As the Head Nurse of Ophthalmology, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring the highest standards of nursing care. In addition to overseeing the clinical workflow, you will work across other referral departments, including soft tissue, oncology, orthopaedics, neurology, dentistry, and cardiology. This role also involves handling key administrative duties to ensure the department runs smoothly and maintaining compliance with health and safety protocols.

Our ophthalmology department is a small yet highly dedicated team consisting of 7 clinicians and 4 nurses. With an excellent reputation, the department is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including an Oertli OS4 phaco/VR machine, endolaser, high-frequency ultrasound, and ERG. Our clinicians are committed to delivering the highest standard of care to every patient.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse with a background in referral practice who can confidently lead and support the development of the team. Previous leadership experience would be an advantage.
Working Pattern
This is a full-time position, consisting of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, consisting of five 8 hour shifts. There is an approximate on-call rota of 1:5. We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements; however, we cannot offer part-time work.
