POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction and guidance of the Regional Education Director and consistent with the mission and policies of the YMCS of Southeastern NC, the Afterschool Site Coordinator is fully dedicated to the afterschool program site location, and they are responsible for the oversight of the Afterschool program in partnership with the collaborating school. The site director serves as the primary daily face to face contact for the school administration, faculty, parents, and guardians and helps establish the afterschool program at the assigned school. The Director must have the competencies, skills, and proven leadership ability to successfully carry out the YMCS mission, goals, and vision for serving the community. The Director will provide direction for the program and classroom, implement program curriculum, and provide. a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. POSTION TYPE: This is a seasonal, part-time, hourly position paying $15.12 - $15.88/hour based on experience. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Implements curriculum within the established guidelines. Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans. Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities. Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child. Ensures parents are kept informed of all site and program activities and communicates both positive and negative behavior of children to parents. Conducts parent conferences and maintains positive relationships and effective communication. with parents. Engages parents as volunteers. Maintains program site and equipment. Maintains required program records including attendance sheets, incident sheets, and behavior reports; maintains CACFP records. Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training. Follows and implements the Healthy Eating and Physical Activity standards. Trains new staff on current YMCA policies and procedures. Supervises afterschool counselors; modify the schedule as necessary to maintain appropriate staff to student ratios and remain within budget. Develop relationships with school and community stakeholders to further deepen the YMCA and school relationship. Site Coordinators with Afterschool sites serving 60 or more students may be assigned to help that school with lunch monitoring duties, playground monitoring duties, and more. QUALIFICATIONS: Two years or more of college preferred working towards a degree in education or related field. At least 21 years of age and / or training significant for the YMCA program. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 30 days of hire date. 2 years' experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate. program activities. Previous experience with diverse populations.
