Transaction Tax Team Manager - VP

In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships. This is a VP level position within the Core Services function.
An opportunity has arisen within the International Tax team for a full-time Vice President to join the team and be responsible for the supervision of the firm's transaction tax risk population across multiple jurisdictions; client processes; account set-up for tax purposes; implementation of tax changes for processes owned by ITU and other departments.
What you'll do in the role:
1. Support several tax reconciliation and processing functions to ensure that both Firm and Clients are accurately charged.
2. Timely submission of tax documentation to custodians/tax authorities to ensure Morgan Stanley meets all transaction tax obligations in EMEA and the Americas.
3. Risk management oversight to pro-actively identify risks, escalate and clearly outline resolution.
4. Ensure payment and regulatory reporting provided to tax authorities is accurate and submitted within prescribed deadlines.
5. Perform due diligence checks in assessing client entitlements to tax exemptions.
6. Supporting the ITU Enhancement strategy to improve systemic tax processing.
7. Control of processes outsourced to external vendor.
Qualifications:
What you'll bring to the role:
1. 8-10 years' experience working in an Operations environment
2. 3+ years' people management experience
3. Experience in a tax focused position
4. Knowledge of asset services or settlements beneficial
5. Proactive team player who actively promotes sharing of knowledge
6. Attention to detail and accuracy with an ability to grasp complex concepts quickly
7. Ability to collate and critically analyse high volumes of data
8. Provide clear and concise interpretation on risk, impact and resolution
9. High Microsoft Office proficiency
10. Ability to take ownership for the resolution of firm and client related queries
