Job summary We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Sister / Charge Nurse who has a passion and drive to provide excellent patient care for all children 0-16 and their families, on the Surgical Units at Broomfield. You would be joining a friendly and dynamic multi-disciplinary team. Their are two surgical unit's, Wizard ward which is for day surgery and has 10 beds and our newly built in-patient ward, Pegasus which is 11 beds and supports with the central HUB work for ENT and trauma (Plastics and Max fax) This is a 24 hour facility for the assessment and treatment of children who require urgent paediatric care. The unit is staffed by an experienced senior nursing team and staff progression is actively encouraged. Main duties of the job Working alongside the nursing staff we are lucky to have a team of Play Specialists/Nursery Nurses that are invaluable in helping both patients and parents through procedures. We have two High Dependency beds that forms part of the paediatric inpatient ward for patients requiring complex care. The Clinical Facilitators assist in teaching and supporting staff especially when there are high dependency patients on the ward or in need of transfer to a specialist centre. The Senior Sister/Charge Nurse will work with the paediatric Matron and senior management team to lead and co-ordinate a dedicated team of nursing and support staff in the delivery of a high standard of nursing care. Your development will be supported by two dedicated high dependency facilitators who offers valuable education opportunities under the guidance of a mentor as part of the team. We can offer an excellent preceptorship and induction programme plus access to ongoing professional education and development. We are looking for a Band 7 who is an enthusiastic and highly motivated nurse to join our friendly team ; you should be keen to work within this progressive area of children's services. The children's team provides the child and family with a holistic hospital experience and continuity of care offering them a pre-assessment prior to surgery, pre and post-operative care and a discharge follow up. All aspects aimed at maintaining the standards set out in the National service framework benchmarks.
