Key Responsibilities: As a Costing & Procurement Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the company’s costing, purchasing, stock control, and supplier management functions. Your duties will include: Managing the purchasing function, including RFQs, purchase orders, and stock control. Coordinating with manufacturing, production, and design teams to ensure smooth workflow. Identifying cost factors such as production time, materials, and labour. Developing accurate cost estimates, considering design, manufacturing, and support costs. Tracking actual costs against cost control structures and ensuring budget compliance. Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to meet production and project deadlines. Expanding and managing the supplier base to support company growth. Interpreting technical engineering drawings and specifications. Supporting sales and finance teams with cost analysis and budget planning. Working closely with design engineers and production managers to align purchasing with project needs. Skills & Experience Required: To be successful as a Costing & Procurement Engineer, you should have: Strong experience in purchasing, procurement, and cost management within an engineering environment. The ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings and specifications. Excellent negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships. A background in cost estimation, tracking actual costs, and managing budgets. A proactive approach to workflow coordination between manufacturing, production, and design teams. Knowledge of materials, production processes, and supply chain management. Qualifications & Requirements: Degree or HND in an engineering-related subject. Full UK driving licence and ability to travel globally when required. Working Hours & Benefits: 37.5-hour working week. 22 days of holiday in Year 1, increasing to 25 days from Year 2 (plus bank holidays). Private health insurance.
