Compassion Kitchen is a charity established and run by the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ. We feed the homeless and those in need every Sunday with the help of our volunteers at Sacred Heart Parish Centre, 1 Eastwood Place, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, ST1 3DB.
What does the role involve?
* We start at 9am each Sunday and usually finish around 1:30pm.
* We need volunteers to help prepare and cook the food. We serve a hot meal and drink, changing it each week for variety. The food we serve is free to members of the community.
* We also supply toiletries and clothing alongside the meal when possible.
* We usually feed around 65-70 people.
Skills and Experience desired:
* Enthusiastic and friendly
* Trustworthy and reliable
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Interest in cooking/baking
* Minimum age 18
Benefits to the Volunteer:
* Volunteers can claim reasonable travel expenses incurred while on special assignment for Compassion Kitchen, such as bus fares, train fares, and taxis.
* Lunch is served if a volunteer works for a minimum of 4 hours per day.
* Takeaway bags and extras are given to volunteers after serving every Sunday.
