Our client is looking for an experienced Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day financial activities of the firm, ensuring compliance with the Solicitor Accounts Rules and effective financial management. This role reports directly to the Practice Manager and is crucial for maintaining the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the firm. Day-to-day of the role: Supervise and support the legal cashiers, ensuring accurate and efficient service delivery. Conduct appraisals and manage the performance of legal cashiers. Ensure full compliance with SRA Accounts Rules and HMRC regulations. Implement or improve internal control and accounting processes as necessary. Collaborate with the Practice Manager and other managers to ensure best practices are effectively and efficiently delivered across the firm. Train and mentor new and existing staff on identified training needs. Manage nominal ledger and journal postings for the office account. Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns and manage cash flow. Oversee supplier invoices, address anomalies, and ensure financial activities related to case accounts are accurate and compliant. Verify and process client and office accounting transactions including bank reconciliations, supplier invoices, and payments. Handle complex conveyancing transactions and manage a high volume of transactions. Liaise with external auditors for the Solicitors Accounts Rules Audit and handle enquiries from colleagues, banks, and accountants. Required Skills & Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Legal Cashier or equivalent, with supervisory or team leader experience. In-depth knowledge of financial and accounting processes and procedures. Strong analytical skills and numerical aptitude. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to use diplomacy and tact. Proficiency in MS Office and email. Ability to work independently, establish priorities, and manage workload.
