Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking a Senior Director of Housing Disaster Resilience and Recovery to lead strategic efforts in strengthening housing resilience within disaster-affected communities. Reporting to the Vice President of Program Effectiveness, this leadership role will oversee a team of specialists and work across global and regional departments to integrate Habitat’s Pathway to Permanence approach, ensuring a seamless connection between short-term relief and long-term resilience.
This position is remote or hybrid, and candidates must be based in a country where HFHI has an entity and legal work eligibility. The role is full-time, salaried, and falls under Disaster Response, International Programs, and Strategy. The expected travel requirement is 20%. For U.S.-based hires, the salary range is $116,030 – $136,500.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the Housing Disaster Resilience and Recovery (HDRR) team and implement the strategic plan in alignment with HFHI’s global strategy.
* Develop standards, guidelines, and monitoring frameworks to enhance HFHI’s capacity in housing resilience and recovery.
* Provide technical support to program teams in designing and implementing resilience strategies.
* Coordinate between headquarters, field operations, and fundraising teams, ensuring donor compliance and effective reporting.
* Lead HFHI’s engagement in disaster risk reduction and resilience alliances, coalitions, and research initiatives.
* Pursue institutional and private funding opportunities in coordination with fundraising teams.
Qualifications & Requirements:
* Education: Bachelor’s in urban planning, public policy, civil engineering, or environmental science; Graduate studies in resilience planning, disaster management, or international development preferred.
* Experience:
o 7+ years in disaster risk reduction, housing development, or resilience planning.
o Proven track record in managing international projects and securing institutional funding.
o Experience working in at least two Global South countries and collaborating with Global North offices.
o Strong knowledge of gender and social inclusion frameworks in humanitarian programming.
* Expertise in resilience, housing, and disaster risk reduction frameworks.
* Strong project management, budgeting, and risk assessment skills.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and cross-cultural communication abilities.
