Role - Data Performance Engineer
Location - UK
Purpose of the role:
The Data Performance Engineer role is part of the Environment Technical, Data team, within the Infrastructure Construction Division at Galliford Try. The role is focused on collating source data from Galliford Try systems and data storage, collating and data analysis of data followed by developing reports (primarily in Power BI).
The role is part of one of the Environment Central team's support functions. The data team is managed by a Technical Director, and the team closely works with the Programme Management Office.
Working together, the team is responsible for supporting key business functions (e.g., commercial) and Project delivery in developing efficient, automated reports that satisfy both Galliford Try, Function, and Client requirements.
What will you be doing:
1. Help identify current data usage and storage systems
2. Help identify data requirements to GT Environment Business
3. Help identify data requirements to Environment Business Units (Frameworks)
4. Help develop reporting strategies
5. Assist in configuring the Microsoft Fabric solution to automate collection of time, cost and business data from business-wide reporting systems and locations.
6. Developing reporting tools, preferably in Microsoft Power BI, to demonstrate business performance.
7. Develop any necessary Teams list forms for collation of additional data
8. Developing some Excel reporting tools when Power BI is not the correct solution
9. Assist in providing supporting documentation explaining the use of the Reporting systems.
10. Assist in training for end users.
About you:
1. Ability to interact with technical, project and central office team members.
2. Ability to work collaboratively
3. Ability to prioritise activities in a challenging environment
4. Ability to set own goals to achieve timely deliverables
5. Degree in a systems/computer related discipline.
6. Experience in systems/ web / IT solutions development
7. Very good IT skills.
8. Expert user of Excel
9. Experience of Power BI would be beneficial
10. Some knowledge/experience of computer languages would be beneficial
Summary:
The Data Analyst must be highly computer literate with systems/IT experience. The role involves creative development in providing both technical solutions and in designing suitable interactive reporting tools. This person must be able to understand the scope of a solution and assist in developing solutions to satisfy the stakeholders (Managers, Project teams, function heads, etc).
