The Langford Centre is a highly specialised Mental Health Hospital based in Bexhill on Sea.
As the Lead Occupational Therapist, you will lead the OT team from the front. Using the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) as a framework, you will carry out specialist assessments, develop and implement occupational therapy interventions, focusing on daily living and vocational skills, in consultation/conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.
Key responsibilities of the Lead Occupational Therapist role will include:
* Manage a caseload of in-patients with mental illness who have a forensic history and/or behaviours that challenge.
* Assess activities of daily living to determine a patient's level of functioning.
* Carry out occupational therapy interventions with patients and plan individual treatment programmes specific to their needs.
* Plan, facilitate, and evaluate the group OT programme within the service.
* Provide a consultative role in planning and delivering a ward-based activity programme.
* Offer OT interventions that are ward-based and community-based, promoting social inclusion and recovery.
* Evaluate OT treatment outcomes and record outcome measures.
* Take on the role of vocational lead within the hospital.
* Provide clinical and management supervision to the wider OT team and Technical Instructors.
* Participate in stock taking and ordering of items within the OT department.
* Develop knowledge of the local community and resources for people with severe mental illness.
Some of Your Managerial Duties Will Be:
* Oversee the day-to-day running of the Occupational Therapy service within the hospital. Act as Corporate lead, prepare reports, and attend Clinical Governance meetings as required.
* Provide clinical and management supervision to the OT team and Technical Instructors.
* Participate in stock taking and ordering of departmental items.
* Develop knowledge of local community resources for individuals with severe mental illness.
About you, the successful Lead Occupational Therapist:
* You are a registered Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration.
* You have previous experience working as an OT in mental health, forensic, or hospital settings.
