Our client, a well-established leader in the construction sector, is seeking a motivated and strategic National Sales Manager to guide sales strategies, lead a talented team, and ensure exceptional service to key customers. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for a professional with a strong sales background in construction to join a reputable company known for its innovative solutions.
As the National Sales Manager, you will lead and mentor a team of sales professionals, working closely with Area Sales Managers and internal teams to achieve business objectives. You will be responsible for managing relationships with contractors, builders, distributors, and key accounts across the UK and Europe, driving revenue, and ensuring the successful implementation of sales strategies.
Role Purpose & Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and develop the sales team, ensuring sales targets and objectives are met, and providing coaching and guidance to Area Sales Managers and inside sales personnel.
2. Develop and implement regional business plans aligned with company strategies and marketing goals.
3. Manage and drive revenue growth within assigned territories, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
4. Provide technical knowledge and product training to sales teams to enhance their ability to effectively communicate product value.
5. Establish and nurture strong relationships with existing customers, while identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities to expand market reach.
6. Participate in local trade and industry events to promote the company’s products and services.
7. Oversee recruitment, training, and development of sales personnel across the UK and Europe.
8. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of sales forecasts, expenses, and customer accounts using tools such as Salesforce and MS Excel.
Candidate Requirements
1. A minimum of 5 years' experience in a sales role within the construction or building products industry, with prior management experience being advantageous.
2. Strong knowledge of the European market is desirable.
3. Ability to work with technical drawings and provide accurate quantity lists for customers.
4. Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop a sales team, with excellent communication and organizational skills.
5. Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
6. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
7. Effective presentation and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and motivate others.
8. Willingness to travel extensively across the UK and Europe.
Salary & Benefits
£50,000.00 - £60,000.00 per year (dependent on experience). Benefits include a company car, pension, life insurance, and private medical insurance.
