We are looking for Support Workers to work within our Disability Day Opportunities Service. You will be required:
1. To provide compassionate, safe, effective, responsive support, that will assist service users to maximise their independence.
2. This will involve providing support with a range of personal and practical tasks, that will achieve agreed personal goals, so that wherever possible service users are able to exercise choice and control maintaining their wellbeing.
3. After following an individual's plan, staff will report back to their manager, giving accurate feedback and recording progress towards agreed outcomes.
4. To promote and ensure service delivery which values and respects the dignity, diversity, rights and responsibilities of individuals.
5. To support and participate in people's chosen activities, promoting citizenship and community engagement, including but not limited to: activities both in the person's home and community that will promote both physical and emotional wellbeing, volunteering, and life skills development.
6. Good written and verbal communication skills.
7. Experience of delivering care and support to people with a disability or older people, to enable them to live independently.
8. Able to work flexible hours and in a range of environments.
9. Able to work alone.
10. Willingness and ability to travel around the borough with a good knowledge of the Sandwell area.
11. 18 years old or over.
12. Willing to undergo an enhanced DBS clearance.
13. Able to work as a team and use own initiative.
14. Able to prioritise workload and deliver high standards of support to our customers using a person-centred approach.
15. Driving desirable.
16. Will be required to undertake and complete the care certificate or equivalent.
17. Will be required to undertake specific training in Adult Social Care that will enable individuals' care and support needs to be met appropriately.
