Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Chorlton-cum-Hardy
Teaching Personnel is seeking a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school in Chorlton-cum-Hardy. This is a full-time position, starting immediately and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance.
Role Overview
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent maths graduate who is looking to gain hands-on experience in a secondary school setting. The successful candidate will support students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, helping them develop their confidence and ability in mathematics.
This role is particularly suited for individuals considering a career in teaching, tutoring, or educational support, as it provides invaluable classroom experience working alongside experienced teachers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supporting students in maths lessons, working both one-to-one and in small groups to help them improve their understanding of key mathematical concepts.
* Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons, adapting content to suit the needs of individual students.
* Providing additional support for students preparing for GCSE maths exams, including revision techniques and problem-solving strategies.
* Helping students develop confidence in their mathematical abilities through structured guidance and encouragement.
* Identifying and addressing gaps in students' knowledge, offering tailored support to meet their individual learning needs.
* Collaborating with teachers and SEN staff to support students with additional learning needs in mathematics.
* Assisting in classroom management, ensuring students remain focused and engaged in their learning.
* Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers to support effective lesson planning.
* Helping to create a positive and supportive learning environment, encouraging students to develop a passion for mathematics.
Candidate Requirements:
* A degree in Mathematics or a related subject.
* A strong understanding of secondary school maths curriculum.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students.
* A patient, supportive, and proactive approach to assisting students with varying abilities.
* A passion for education and helping students overcome challenges in maths.
* Experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, or voluntary work) is desirable but not essential.
* The ability to work effectively within a team of teachers, support staff, and SEN specialists.
Salary & Benefits:
* Weekly pay between £446.90 - £500, depending on experience and responsibilities.
