Brief Description
Provide a comprehensive Track asset management and engineering support service to the Wessex Head of Asset (Track) and delivery units.
About the role (External)
1. Provide Track systems engineering input to the determination of appropriate engineering maintenance regimes and activity volumes for Track assets in accordance with company policies, standards and specifications.
2. Provide a comprehensive system engineering support service across the Track asset base throughout the route and across delivery units as and when required.
3. Provide technical briefings associated with Track systems engineering to engineers in delivery units.
4. Review and make recommendations on derogation and non-compliance applications to Track systems engineering related standards.
5. Review and monitor progression of potential improvements to Track systems from delivery units.
6. Carry out asset condition inspections that will inform the Track asset condition database and the renewals work bank.
7. Provide advice and guidance to the delivery unit and other asset engineers in the production of prioritised business focussed Track systems renewal proposals.
8. Participate in, and lead as directed, Track engineering activities in support assurance processes.
9. Monitor the reliability and performance of Track systems related assets across the route.
10. Contribute to the development and maintenance of route asset management plans.
11. Participate in investigations of incidents as required.
12. Contribute to the development of revised standards and policies relating to Track assets.
13. Assist in the review and acceptance process for engineering project designs as and when required.
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
* Incorporated Engineer
* Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent
* Membership of relevant professional institution
* A detailed understanding of the maintenance of Track assets
* A sound knowledge of the relevant technical, safety and performance standards
* Holds relevant professional licences and technical qualifications
* Holds valid UK driving licence, or eligible and willing to obtain
* Chartered engineer
* Understanding and experience of railway infrastructure maintenance
* Experience of undertaking engineering assurance activities, including competence assessment
