An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Engineer to join our Major Projects department. The non-operational Project Engineer is responsible for the effective development and delivery management of allocated construction projects to time cost, quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities • Developing HV/EHV projects initial functional requirement into compliant, cost-effective engineering solutions • Provision of HV/EHV project designs and documentation detailing the associated engineering requirements • Interface with key stakeholders to develop and deliver HV/EHV projects • Production of accurate and detailed financial proposals for developed HV/EHV design solutions • Producing detailed project scopes and the technical specifications for developed HV/EHV projects • Development and delivery of CDM compliant HV/EHV projects – plant, apparatus, protection and civil activities. Key Competencies • Knowledge of engineering standards, engineering principles and practice in the development and delivery of power systems projects • Knowledge and practical application of safety legislation / procedures, specifically the HSWA, EAWR and CDM. • Experience of the administration of engineering and construction contracts associated with project works including; substations, overhead line and cable works • Ability to project manage critical infrastructure projects from inception to completion • Ability to effectively lead and manage multi-disciplinary project teams including multiple contract resources • Knowledge and ability to monitor and maintain project delivery timescales and provide, accurate and timely progress and status reporting against agreed time cost and quality objectives Essential Qualifications (evidence must be provided): • Minimum HNC in electrical engineering or equivalent STEM subject Essential Experience: • Knowledge and experience of EHV/HV electrical power systems and associated engineering requirements • Knowledge of safe systems of work (SSOW) in compliance with HSWA1974, MHASAW 1999 CDM2015 • Demonstrated ability to drive asset development and delivery plans forward to meet time, cost, quality and safety standards Desirable Qualifications: • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject • Project Management qualifications • NEBOSH or equivalent formal qualification in safety management Desirable Experience: • Project engineering experience on critical national infrastructure project works including; Substations, OHL, Cable system, BESS, Generation and HVDC convertors. • Experience of managing budgets, forecasting, profit/loss Grade: Technical Level B (pay point 13-21) Remuneration: £51,761 - £70,784, personal transport provision of £305/month, plus technical incentive up to £2000 per year.
