** Prevailing Wages Paid on All State/Municipal Work (Journeyman)**
Purpose: This position is accountable for the accurate installation of piping (chilled water, hot water, steam, victaulic, black iron, etc.) for HVAC equipment and accessories in accordance with all company installation procedures, quality control, and safety guidelines. In addition, this position is accountable for maintaining and using his/her own tools and the company’s tools in a safe and reliable manner and always conducting him/herself in a professional manner with customers and company personnel.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
1. Perform equipment and system installations per company and equipment manufacturer’s instructions or guidelines.
1. Layout, fabricate and install various pipe and pipe fittings as instructed.
2. Install heating, air conditioning, ventilation, as well as accessories, in an accurate and timely manner.
3. Complete required job and company paperwork in a neat, accurate, complete, and timely manner.
2. Responsible for adhering to company and customer safety policies and practices.
3. Assist in preparing material requisition forms to ensure proper truck and job stock levels.
4. Responsible for assuring good housekeeping practices are maintained at the job site.
5. Provide feedback to the Project Manager regarding cost-saving opportunities and customer issues; communicate with PM regarding change-order requests (COR) and requests for information (RFI).
6. Record all materials received and/or returned from job and truck inventories.
7. Expedite equipment, parts, and materials per company policy and procedures when necessary for job completion.
8. Perform all work in the most expeditious and cost-efficient means possible while assuring customer satisfaction.
9. Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of:
1. Company’s products and services
2. Equipment maintenance tasking procedures
3. Customer needs, requirements, and delivery issues.
10. Cross-train fellow tradesmen or share installation “best practice” experiences and expertise to improve department professionalism and capabilities.
11. Ensure company property, vehicles, and tools are being used, maintained, and accounted for properly and timely.
12. Coordinate service vehicle repairs and maintenance with Project Manager and Fleet Maintenance Director.
13. Record labor, materials, and job purchase requisitions on field job forms per company recording requirements.
14. Comply with company standards of conduct and appearance to reflect positively on company image.
15. All other duties as assigned.
Essential Technical Skills:
1. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, equipment specifications, and mechanical regulations.
2. Ability to accurately install piping, piping accessories, and HVAC equipment by performing:
1. Job layout and pipe design
2. Piping and pipe accessory installation per industry “best practice” and company guidelines.
3. Maintain adequate truck stock per company inventory control procedures.
4. Understand and use installation tools (i.e., aerial lifts, lifting equipment, power tools, etc.).
5. Understand the installation and operation of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment.
6. Understand the use of hand signals to direct crane or lift operators during load lifting and placement.
Skills/Knowledge/Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Apprentice must be willing to register with the State of Mass, Division of Apprentice Standards (registered apprentice will receive a percentage of prevailing wage on all state/municipal work).
* Pipefitter, Plumbing, or HVACR License.
* 5+ years of progressively responsible experience working with various piping systems.
* Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
* Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively.
Physical/Mental Abilities:
* Able to interact and maintain effective relationships in a professional manner with employees, vendors, and clients.
* Able to talk, hear, walk, sit, stand, climb ladders, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel for long periods of time up to eight (8) hours.
* Must possess a valid State driver’s license or can obtain one prior to employment.
* Must be able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including electronic and diagnostic tools, recovery equipment, and other HVAC equipment.
* Ability to focus and differentiate between colors and shades.
