Corporate and Delivery Directorate works closely with the Home Office�s policy and operational commands to enable us together to deliver the department�s priorities. The directorate is comprised of different teams and professional functions, including Commercial, Finance, People, Portfolio and Project Delivery, Security, Estates and Information and Digital, Data and Technology.
We are recruiting 4 x Operational Security Supervisors to work within the Physical Security Team. The successful candidates will form part of the security team and be responsible for overseeing the daily running of security on site, situated at Old Park Barracks one of the sites within the Dover area.
This is an important and varied role which has a considerable effect on the day-to-day operation of the Kent Region and wider business objective.
The Operational Security Team within Home Office Security is responsible for ensuring robust physical security solutions are in place to protect Home Office buildings, staff, and assets. Furthermore, we are responsible for Home Office building receptions across the country ensuring our policies are followed whilst monitoring CCTV and alarms.
Job description
As an Operational Security Supervisor, you will provide effective supervision to the Security Guarding team to ensure the Physical Security of Home Office buildings, staff and assets are maintained at all times.
Training
This is an important and varied role which has a considerable effect on the day-to-day operation of the Kent Region and wider business objective.

Travel
All staff within the security team must be prepared to attend other sites within the region to assist as and when directed.
Working Pattern
This role is full time and office based only, working 12hr shifts covering a 24hr period 365 days a year. Successful candidates will be required to attend the office/other work location as specified in the advert at all times to carry out this role.
Key responsibilities:
1. Assist and provide guidance to all customers, staff, and internal / external stakeholders, promoting a positive and professional working relationship that proactively contributes to the work of the team and aids business delivery.
2. Conduct random bag and vehicle screenings on staff, visitor/contractor in accordance with policy.
3. Monitor alarm & CCTV systems.
4. Provide support and guidance if required to colleagues within the team.
5. Enable the business to function in a safe and secure manner and in accordance with policy and guidance.
6. Deal appropriately with any non-compliant individuals, in a polite and professional manner, assisting colleagues if required and escalating to Security Management when required.
7. Complete and ensure regular and varied foot patrols are completed in line with directive.
Person specification
Essential Criteria:�
8. You should be proactive with the ability to work in a fast-paced and at times highly pressured environment.
9. A Operational Security Supervisor is required to have good organisational skills, and the ability to maintain effective administrative processes, have good written and verbal communication skills with an eye for detail.�
10. You will need to have a positive approach to customer service with strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues within an organisation.
11. You must be able and willing to wear a stab vest, uniform and other required personal protective equipment for the duration of the shift (excluding breaks).
12. Ability to complete full foot patrols of internal and external areas.
Desirable Criteria:
13. Experience within a supervisory role, completing rosters and directing a team.
14. Experience of Security and Customer Service.
