By fostering collaboration and breaking down silos, we work in partnership with a diverse range of stakeholders, including individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges, carers, grassroots organisations, mental health trusts, faith communities, and businesses.
As the Black Thrive partner in Birmingham since 2020, we have secured long-term funding to achieve our aspirations. This is an exciting time to join our growing organisation and make a meaningful impact.
About the Role
The Community & Collaboration Co-ordinator will be responsible for fostering connections, encouraging collaboration, and sharing information across Catalyst 4 Change’s community development, research, engagement, and capacity-building programmes.
You will work closely with team members to engage Black communities, Catalyst’s registered members, voluntary and statutory organisations, and other stakeholders. Your goal will be to co-develop culturally appropriate mental health and wellbeing services that meet the needs of Birmingham and West Midlands communities.
Key Responsibilities;
• Facilitate linkages and collaboration across all Catalyst 4 Change programmes.
• Work with Black communities, voluntary organisations, and other stakeholders to co-design culturally sensitive mental health services.
• Raise awareness of mental health issues and address barriers to service access, stigma, and mistrust within Black communities.
• Collaborate with individuals and organisations to rebuild confidence in mental health services.
Skills and Knowledge
We are looking for someone who has:
• In-depth knowledge of the experiences and challenges faced by people of African and Caribbean descent and the factors affecting their health and wellbeing outcomes.
• Experience in coordinating and delivering community outreach programmes within Black communities.
• Strong understanding of systemic racism, institutional barriers, and their impact on individuals and communities.
• Commitment to anti-racist practice and the social model of disability.
